Ecosystem Sponsorship Forwarding

In 2024, I started the Initiative on Sponsorship Forwarding to help funding flow beyond the most visible projects and maintainers. The idea is simple: you sponsor my work and the tools you benefit from, and I redistribute the funds to the dependencies, infrastructure, and contributors that make that work possible.

The fund is on Open Collective, and all redistributions are completely transparent. You can see the full history of sponsorships and redistributions on the Anthony Fu Fund page.

I’d like to say thanks for all the sponsors and contributors and support that make this possible. I hope this initiative helps make open source more sustainable and encourages others to support the dependencies they rely on.

2026 #

Here are the the contributors / projects we have distributed sponsorships to in 2026:

• Leo Liang $500. Leo created oxc-inspector, then generously donated it to become part of Vite DevTools and continued helping maintain it. This gives Vite users a better way to understand what happens inside the Oxc toolchain and help the migration easier.
• Kerman $250. Kerman has done a wonderful job maintaining Slidev and bringing many thoughtful features to it. Kerman also created reactive-vscode, which gives extension authors a composable, reactive foundation and now powers many of our own VS Code extensions.
• Yann Braga $250. Yann has contributed greatly to Storybook and brought that experience into our collaboration on Vite DevTools. It was a pleasure to work together and learn from the care he brings to developer-facing tools.
• Willow $250. Willow contributed to building npmx.dev, helping create a modern and approachable way to explore npm packages. A project like this depends on many careful decisions across data, interface, and developer experience.
• Alex Savelyev £250. Alex contributed to npmx.dev and helped turn the complexity of the npm registry into something people can explore more comfortably.
• Zeu Capua $250. Zeu contributed to npmx.dev, joining the collaborative effort to build a clearer and more useful window into the npm ecosystem.
• jinghaihan $250. Jinghai created vsxpub, which makes publishing VS Code extensions easier, and vue-stream-markdown, which brings streaming-friendly Markdown rendering to Vue applications. Both projects solve practical problems that many developers encounter.
• Alec Lloyd Probert $250. Alec contributed to npmx.dev and created Vue Data UI, an extensive collection of data-visualization components for Vue. Making complex data understandable is difficult work, whether through package information or visual interfaces.

2025 #

Here are the the contributors / projects we have distributed sponsorships to in 2025:

• Chris $250. Chris leads UnoCSS and does the steady work of keeping it healthy and moving forward. He also implemented the Wind4 preset for Tailwind 4 compatibility and created Onu UI. I am very grateful for the care he continues to put into the UnoCSS ecosystem, and I encourage you to check out Onu UI too.
• Bjorn Lu $250. Bjorn has contributed enormously as a core member of Vite, helping keep a tool used by millions reliable and pleasant to work with. He also created publint, which has become our go-to way of checking package quality in the e18e community. Thank you, Bjorn, for raising the standard of both Vite and the package ecosystem around it.
• Arlo $250. Arlo helped a lot with building Vite DevTools, especially the visualizations that make bundled modules, chunk relationships, and plugins easier to understand. Turning those invisible internals into something developers can explore is difficult work, and I really appreciate his contribution.
• KazariEX $250. Kazari’s work on dxup is an excellent experiment in using TypeScript plugins to improve the language-server experience. The ideas around client and server references and auto-imports reached Nuxt as an experimental feature. I am thankful for the curiosity and persistence it takes to explore tooling at this depth and turn experiments into improvements people can use.
• Vida Xie $250. Vida made significant contributions to ESLint Stylistic, improving the consistency and robustness of many rules. He also helped maintain VueUse and establish better practices across its codebase. I am grateful for this careful maintenance work, which makes these projects much more dependable for everyone.
• Ilya Liao $250. Ilya has helped a lot with maintaining and improving VueUse, as well as packages throughout the unplugin ecosystem. This kind of ongoing maintenance rarely gets the spotlight, but it is what keeps widely shared tools healthy. Thank you, Ilya, for consistently showing up for these projects.
• Robin $250. Robin has contributed extensively to VueUse’s maintenance and built the VueUse Playground, which helps people understand composables and create useful reproductions. Tools like this make it much easier for maintainers and users to meet in the middle. I deeply appreciate the thought and effort behind it.
• Azat S. $250. Azat created eslint-plugin-perfectionist, bringing intelligent sorting to imports, objects, enums, JSX props, and more. If you use @antfu/eslint-config, you already benefit from his work. I am thankful for the polish he brings to everyday tooling, and eslint-plugin-de-morgan is another clever project worth exploring.
• Eduardo San Martin Morote $250. Eduardo has maintained Vue Router and Pinia for years, on top of contributing so much to the Vue community. His unplugin-vue-router also powers Nuxt’s file-based routing, while pinia-colada explores a thoughtful approach to data fetching. I am deeply grateful for the years of care behind these foundations.
• Vida Xie $250. This separate grant recognized Vida’s continued work on ESLint Stylistic, where he improved a large number of rules and helped carry the project to its v5 release. Releases like this are built from countless small fixes and consistency improvements. Thank you again, Vida, for doing that patient and important work.
• Wind $250. Wind contributes across a remarkably wide part of the Vue and JavaScript ecosystem, including Oku UI, Nitro, and UnJS. He also created projects such as unemail and unadapter to make web development easier. I appreciate both the breadth of his work and his willingness to help wherever the ecosystem needs it.
• Edison $250. Edison is a core Vue contributor who has been very active in maintaining Vue core and developing Vapor mode. That work asks for patience across performance, compatibility, and framework design. I am grateful for the energy he brings to moving Vue forward.
• Rizumu Ayaka $250. Rizumu is an active contributor to Vue’s Vapor mode, helping push its design and implementation forward alongside the core team. Exploring a new rendering model involves a huge amount of detailed work, and I am thankful for their persistence in shaping it.
• Bobbie Goede $250. Bobbie has made great contributions across Vue and Nuxt, especially to Nuxt I18n and VueUse Motion. We used Nuxt I18n while collaborating on the Japanese translation of learn.nuxt.com, and it made the integration remarkably smooth. Thank you, Bobbie, for turning complicated internationalization work into a much better experience for users and maintainers.
• Zernonia $250. Zernonia has put tremendous effort into Reka UI, formerly Radix Vue, and shadcn-vue. Together they form a robust, accessible foundation for Vue applications, including Nuxt UI, and have made our own development much easier. I am deeply thankful for the care behind this foundation. Give these projects a try if you have not already.
• Alexander Lichter $250. Alex has made significant contributions throughout the Nuxt and Vue ecosystems. He also shares excellent, practical learning material through his YouTube channel, helping developers understand not only how things work but how to use them well. I am grateful for both his code and his generosity in teaching the community.
• James Garbutt $250. James leads e18e, an initiative improving package size, performance, and best practices across the JavaScript ecosystem. This work helps the whole ecosystem move toward leaner and more modern foundations. Thank you, James, for taking on problems that are much larger than any single package.
• Kevin Deng $250. Kevin maintains unplugin and its many plugins, giving higher-level tools such as Nuxt a solid foundation across different build systems. Kevin and I also started quansync together to explore a better authoring experience across asynchronous and synchronous APIs. I am grateful for his deep technical work and for the pleasure of collaborating with him directly.
• Johnson Chu $250. Johnson created the remarkable alien-signals, pushing signals and fine-grained reactivity to a new level. Its ideas have influenced Vue and have already travelled into other languages and ecosystems. I am always inspired by how Johnson’s experiments open new possibilities far beyond their starting point.
• Divyansh Singh $250. Divyansh has worked hard to maintain and improve VitePress, the documentation builder used by so many frontend tools. Thanks to that work, maintainers have a great experience writing documentation and users have a great experience learning from it. I am very thankful for the care he brings to this essential part of open source.
• e18e: $100/mo. This recurring sponsorship recognizes the community’s work on package performance, modern implementations, leaner dependencies, and better ecosystem practices. These improvements quietly benefit a huge number of developers, and I am glad the fund can support that effort more predictably.

2024 #

Here are the the contributors / projects we have distributed sponsorships to in 2024:

• Steven Levithan $250. Steven is undoubtedly one of the foremost experts on regular expressions. His Regex+ package brings powerful syntax to JavaScript, while Oniguruma-To-ES helped Shiki’s JavaScript engine support far more grammars with much more robust interoperability. I am incredibly thankful that work of this depth is shared with the whole ecosystem.
• Mock Service Worker: $100. MSW is a wonderful library for mocking network requests in tests. By working at the network layer instead of replacing individual fetch calls, it lets us write realistic mocks that survive changes in frameworks and tools. I am grateful for how much complexity it removes from testing.
• Color.js: $100. Color.js is a beautifully crafted utility library aligned with the latest W3C and CSS Color specifications. It makes advanced color manipulation approachable, and I appreciate the care its maintainers put into turning complex standards into a practical tool.
• esm.sh: $50/mo. esm.sh began receiving recurring support for the open infrastructure that converts npm packages into modern ESM on demand. We depend on it heavily in playgrounds and dynamic applications, and I am thankful that it makes so much of the npm ecosystem usable directly on the web.
• Kevin Deng $250. Kevin has done great work across Vue Vapor, Vue Macros, unplugin, and its plugin ecosystem. These projects connect experiments, framework features, and multiple build tools through a common foundation. I deeply appreciate both the ambition of his work and the steady maintenance needed to make it reliable.
• Harlan Wilton $250. Harlan created Nuxt SEO, a collection full of useful modules such as Nuxt OG Image and Nuxt Sitemap. He has made difficult SEO tasks feel almost effortless for Nuxt users. There are so many gems in this collection, and I am grateful for the thoughtfulness behind them.
• KazariEX $250. Kazari made great contributions to Volar.js, the foundation that makes custom language support much easier to build. This kind of infrastructure asks its maintainers to understand editors, compilers, and framework semantics all at once. Thank you, Kazari, for helping make language tooling more accessible to the wider ecosystem.
• Fabian Hiller $250. Fabian created Valibot, a modular and type-safe schema library, and helped establish Standard Schema. Bringing competing libraries together around a shared interface is a beautiful example of open-source collaboration. I am thankful for both the technical work and the collaborative spirit behind it.
• Mock Service Worker: $100. This was a separate grant to continue supporting MSW’s framework-agnostic approach to API mocking. Its design lets the same request handlers serve development, testing, and debugging workflows, and that consistency is immensely valuable. Thank you to the maintainers for continuing to care for this shared foundation.
• Marco Ippolito $250. Marco brought experimental TypeScript support directly to Node.js through type stripping. Moving a capability like this into the runtime takes careful work across compatibility, performance, and the expectations of a huge user base. I am grateful for his effort to make the TypeScript experience simpler for everyone.
• Johnson Chu $250. Johnson created Volar.js, which gives Vue, Astro, Slidev, and many other tools a great IDE experience in editors such as VS Code and WebStorm. As a common foundation, Volar made custom language tooling far easier than it used to be. I am deeply thankful for how much Johnson’s work has unlocked across multiple communities.
• ESLint: $100. We rely heavily on ESLint to protect code quality in essentially every project. Its influence reaches far beyond lint messages and has helped the JavaScript ecosystem develop better habits and safer tools. Thank you to everyone who keeps this critical foundation moving forward.
• libvips: $100. Through Sharp, libvips makes image processing and optimization dramatically easier for JavaScript developers. We depend on that work in many places and benefit from its performance every day. I am grateful to the maintainers for carrying such demanding infrastructure.
• CSSTree: $100. CSSTree is a fast and lightweight CSS parser used by projects including UnoCSS, SVGO, and Svelte. It sits quietly beneath tools many of us use every day, and I am thankful for the precision and maintenance required to keep that foundation dependable.
• discovery.js: $100. The team’s CPUPro helped us a lot when tracking down performance bottlenecks in Node.js tools. Their other data-exploration projects are equally thoughtful and useful. I am grateful for tools that turn difficult performance investigations into something we can actually understand.
• pnpm: $50/mo. pnpm became one of the fund’s first recurring sponsorships. All of my projects use it, and we have benefited enormously from its speed, disk efficiency, monorepo support, and thoughtful integrations. I am glad we can give something back to a tool that saves us so much every day.
• Iconify: $50/mo. Iconify also became one of the first recurring sponsorships. Its maintainers collect, normalize, and serve an extraordinary number of icons while providing an open API and freedom from icon-set lock-in. That work takes tremendous effort, and I am thankful we can support it more predictably.
• typescript-eslint: $100. typescript-eslint helps us catch bugs and follow good practices before code is even committed. Its parser also supports tools beyond ESLint, and keeping up with TypeScript while maintaining such a large ruleset is a massive effort. Thank you to the team for making typed JavaScript tooling safer and more consistent.
• unified: $100. unified maintains syntax-tree specifications and tools around Markdown, HTML, MDX, and plain text. Shiki uses its HAST tooling to provide a flexible transformer API, which has made integrations much easier for us. I am grateful for this composable foundation and the many ecosystems it connects.
• pnpm: $100. This separate project grant thanked pnpm for its fast, disk-efficient package management and excellent monorepo support. Every one of my projects benefits from the time and storage it saves. It is difficult to imagine our current workflow without it.
• vis.js: $100. vis.js provides high-performance, customizable visualization libraries that help us present data in more intuitive ways. We rely on it in projects such as Nuxt DevTools and vite-plugin-inspect. Thank you to the maintainers for helping us make complex information easier to see and understand.
• TresJS: $100. TresJS brings a declarative Three.js experience to Vue, making 3D web applications much more approachable for Vue developers. I appreciate how it opens the door to more dynamic and engaging experiences without asking people to leave the ecosystem they already know.
• SVGO: $100. SVGO makes the web more efficient by reducing the size and complexity of SVG files. We benefit from it directly and indirectly through the vast Iconify collection. I am thankful for the patient optimization work behind a tool that improves so many assets without drawing attention to itself.
• Yosuke Ota $200. Yosuke is the remarkably prolific maintainer behind ESLint plugins for regular expressions, Vue, Svelte, Astro, JSONC, YAML, and more. Without his work, the ESLint ecosystem would not be nearly as vibrant, and framework users would spend far more time catching avoidable problems by hand. I am deeply grateful for the real impact his work has on faster, safer, and more reliable libraries.
• Hiroki Osame $200. Hiroki created tsx, a wonderfully simple way to run TypeScript in Node.js. Beneath that simple interface is a huge amount of maintenance to follow Node.js changes and keep ESM and CommonJS working together, while APIs such as tsImport() help other tools load TypeScript configuration safely. Thank you, Hiroki, for absorbing so much complexity on behalf of the rest of us.
• Je Xia $200. Je created and maintains esm.sh, a global CDN that intelligently transpiles packages into ESM on demand. It is powerful infrastructure offered freely and openly, smoothing the experience of using CommonJS packages on the web and helping move the ecosystem toward ESM. I am incredibly thankful for both the technical achievement and the generosity behind it.
• Iconify: $100. This project grant recognized the enormous effort behind collecting icons, normalizing SVGs, and maintaining infrastructure for nearly every open-source icon set. If you use UnoCSS Icons, unplugin-icons, Nuxt Icon, or Icônes, you already depend on this work. I am grateful that such broad and useful infrastructure remains open to everyone.
• markdown-it: $100. markdown-it powers the documentation behind VitePress, Slidev, unplugin-vue-markdown, and a large part of the wider ecosystem. So many projects rely on it, yet its work can easily be overlooked. This grant was our small way of saying thank you and helping support the engine behind so much shared knowledge.

These sponsorships alone cannot solve open-source sustainability, but they make a small part of the work behind our shared dependencies more visible and better supported.

Recurring Sponsorships #

The fund also provides recurring sponsorships to:

• e18e: $100/mo. The community keeps pushing JavaScript packages toward leaner dependencies, modern implementations, ESM, and better performance. Much of the ecosystem already benefits from their work, often without realizing it.
• esm.sh: $50/mo. This open-source CDN converts npm packages into browser-ready ESM. We rely on it heavily for playgrounds and dynamic parts of our open-source apps, and I am grateful that such useful infrastructure remains open and freely available.
• pnpm: $50/mo. Its speed, efficient use of disk space, and first-class monorepo support benefit every one of my projects. It saves us an enormous amount of time and storage every day.
• Iconify: $50/mo. It provides the infrastructure behind almost every open-source icon set and tools such as UnoCSS Icons, unplugin-icons, Nuxt Icon, and Icônes. Collecting, normalizing, and serving that many icons takes tremendous effort, and I deeply appreciate that work.
